Open Source

Since you joined OCLS, how has technology changed the way you access, use or provide information? As technology makes information more open source, how do you see our role, as a library, in the future? Describe it for us in your blog.

I think that the library will continue to move away from being stagnant, store houses of information toward more open sourced retrieval locations for information.

I have definitely had to become more aware of online resources and particularly our databases here at the library in order to fully provide all the resources the library has for patrons.

Our role will be to know how to locate information, whether we are the librarian with a Master's in Library Science or a shelver of books. We all will have the unique opportunity to bridge the information gap to get people the information they are looking for.

Health Wellness and Technology

I want a Wii FIT!

I was really excited when I saw again how the Nikefit works. My father loves to run and push his current records, he also loves Nike shoes. I wonder if he knows about this...if not, I'm going early Christmas shopping for him because I think he would really benefit from this. Me? Not so much. I don't run. haha. :)

I'm baaack!

I'm on the fence between a digital native and a digital immigrant. I'm just trying to tilt that balance a little farther toward the "native" side. Last course (learn 2.0) I came away with a ton of technological goodies that I now use on a fairly regular basis (like lastfm and Meebo). I'm looking for more goodies that exist out there! :) --Littlest Librarian
