Chain Chain Change

I think in a lot of ways we are already moving in the directon that the DAvinci article spoke of. We are already creating experiences for patrons who come to the library. We are also already working on making information and technology more accessible to patrons where they are, and wherever they may be going (playaways for patrons on the go and in a small package too!).

The Southeast branch is definitely more of a cultural, community center than a library. Yes we do have books, but that is about where it ends in the library definition. We have computers, games, video games, movies, music, new ways to retrieve books, computer classes, and programs to further move our patrons along in adapting to new technology.

Because the library does meet the "compressed needs" of so many patrons, the patrons are more "well-connected" with each other, which is the part of our mission statement that stuck out to me the most! :)

Ps---I LOVE the idea of slimming down and eventually getting rid of keyboards. Even now typing on an old desktop keyboard compared to my silent keyboard on my laptop is a struggle. My hands are hurting from having to push down these keys! *whine*
